FREMONT, Neb. – The York University men's wrestling team posted a 38-17 win over Midland Wednesday evening.
The Panthers are now 4-1 on the season.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead. In the 125-lb. class,
Barrett Stickelman earned a technical fall win by a score of 17-2.
After
Hector Holguin garnered a forfeit victory in the 133 lb.-class,
Cade Wathke pushed the team score to 15-0 with a major decision win over his foe. Wathke outscored the opposition 13-3.
Leading 15-5, Jonathon Vincent earned a forfeit victory in the 157-lb. class for a 16-point margin.
Kade Wersland notched a superb match. He accounted for the team's second technical fall win of the evening with a 17-2 score in the 165-lb. division.
Caleb Davis (174-lb. class) and
Dayton Fraser (184-lb. division) each picked up pin fall victories. Davis pinned his opponent in 3:47 while Fraser won in 5:45.
Midland won the last two matches, but the victory was never in doubt.
