KEARNEY, Neb. – The York University men's track and field team had a solid day at the Central Nebraska Challenge, which was moved up a day due to impending inclement weather.
The Panthers opened the meet with the hammer throw.
Alphonse Jackson took 23
rd after recording a mark of 45.78m. Johnson garnered the bronze in the shot put with a mark of 15.63m.
Cooper Dillan snagged a 10
th-place effort in the discus after posting a mark of 46.01m.
Tytan Taylor snagged a third-place finish in the long jump. With his second attempt, Taylor recorded an effort of 7.20m.
In the track events, York's quarte of Taylor,
Andrew Heinrichs,
Anthony Hodson and
Jordan Norton combined to place eighth in the 4x100m (42.89).
Heinrichs crossed the finish line in 15.46 in the 110m hurdles, which was good enough for 13
th.
Trenton Orlando accounted for a 16
th-place finish with a time of 51.98 in the 400m.
Taylor registered a 14
th-place effort in the 100m after recording a time of 10.68.
York had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 200m. Norton was eighth (21.72) while Henrichs was ninth (22.04).
Dakwan Cash (35
th – 24.23) and
Jaden Beske (37
th – 24.47) also competed in the event.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Apr. 4 when they compete at the Concordia Invitational.
