HASTINGS, Neb. – The York University men's track and field team put forth a tremendous effort at the Hastings Invite on Saturday.
The Panthers had multiple first-place finishes. In the 100m,
Andrew Heinrichs secured the victory with a time of 10.94.
Jordan Norton was third after crossing in 10.98 while
Dakwan Cash was 13
th with a time of 11.52.
Norton claimed the 200m title with a time of 22.21, edging Heinrichs, who finished in 22.37. Cash posted a sixth-place finish after notching a time of 23.43.
Trenton Orlando snagged a bronze medal after notching a time of 52.76 in the 400m.
Jaden Beske was not far behind, taking fifth after crossing in 57.67.
Drew Lugafet accounted for an eighth-place finish in the 1,500m. He recorded a time of 4:47.08.
The Panthers had a pair of relay teams thrive. The 4x100m squad of Taylor, Heinrichs, Norton and
Anthony Hodson won the event in 42.97.
The quartet of Hodson, Heinrichs, Orlando and Taylor earned a second-place finish in the 4x400m relay after crossing the line in 3:30.41.
In the field events,
Tytan Taylor won the triple jump with an effort of 13.59m. He also led a trio of Panthers in the javelin. Taylor was fifth in the event (48.91m) while Beske registered a seventh-place mark of 40.83m.
Cooper Dillan was eighth (39.82m).
Alphonse Jackson garnered a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 15.25m. He was ninth in the hammer throw after an effort of 44.17m.
Zach Oakleaf was 20
th in the event (27.76m).
The Panthers return to action Apr. 17 at the John Green Combined Events meet starting at 2 p.m.
