CRETE, Neb. – The York University track and field teams took part in the Scott Nisely Invite Saturday.
The men were led by
Conner Neuhalfen's second-place finish in the 60m. The rookie crossed the line in 7.06 for the silver medal. Neuhalfen was fourth in the 200m after posting a mark of 23.62.
Trenton Orlando registered a third-place effort in the 400m, recording a time of 53.83.
Zion Atwood earned a top-10 finish with his time in the 600m. He accounted for a time of 1:30.57, which was good enough for 10
th place.
In the one-mile event,
Austin Oman narrowly missed out on a top-10 effort. His time of 5:05.95 was good enough for 11
th place.
Drew Lugafet took 15
th in the event after totaling a time of 5:13.44.
The 800m features a pair of Panthers competing.
Braden McNair notched a time of 2:02.05, which was good enough for 12
th place.
Hector Lopez took 27
th with a time of 2;18.17.
In the field event, York had just one student-athlete competing.
Zion Atwood's effort of 9.23m in the shot put allowed him to take 20
th.
On the women's side it was
Cierra Dringman who led the Panthers. Her performance in the 400m paced York. She crossed the line in 1:06.87, which was good enough for fifth place. Dringman earned a seventh-place finish in the pole vault after securing a mark of 2.80m.
Lauren Tucker earned a ninth-place finish in the 200m after recording a time of 32.12.
Samantha Bayer's time of 2:50.61 allowed the newcomer to place 10
th in the 800m.
Alana Barron had an 11
th-place effort in the high jump. She posted a mark of 1.41m.
Katy Soucek and
Abby Brooks competed in the shot put for the first time as Panthers. Soucek took 19
th (10.72m) while Brooks was 21
st (9.84m).
Megan DeHart led a trio of student-athletes for York in the one-mile event. DeHart edged Massie Briscoe for 21
st place. DeHart had a time of 6:21.33 while Briscoe crossed the line in 6:25.87.
Megan Johnston was 25
th after putting up a time of 6:36.32.
In the weight throw,
Allison Parker, Soucek, Brooks and
Naomi Taake were 26
th through 29
th, respectively. Parker (11.11m), Soucek (10.90m), Brooks (10.04m) and Taake (9.84m) all had solid efforts.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Jan. 23, at the Prairie Wolf Invite, which is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
