SEWARD, Neb. – The York University track and field teams took part in the Concordia Classic and had several solid performances.
The men were led by
Braden McNair's sixth-place finish in the 800m. He accounted for a time of 2:01.87.
In the heptathlon
Zion Atwood had a solid performance. He placed 10
th in the high jump (1.47m) and long jump (5.80m). Atwood crossed the line in 13
th in the 60m after posting a time of 7.87. In the shot put, he garnered 14
th place with a mark of 8.42m. He took second in the 1,000m with a time of 2:58.56. Atwood was third in the pole vault (3.55m) and 14
th in the shot put (8.42m). Overall, he placed ninth with 3,511 points.
Austin Oman posted a time of 4:52.58 in the mile, allowing him to place 34
th.
Trenton Orlando registered a time of 53.78 in the 400m, which was good enough for 34
th place.
The women's team was led by
Katy Soucek's 11
th-place finish in the shot put. She recorded a mark of 11.11m.
Abby Brooks was 26
th after registering an effort of 10.28m.
Cierra Dringman's time of 1:44.72 in the 600m allowed her to place 14
th.
Cierra Dringman earned a top-20 finish in the pole vault after clearing 2.86m. The senior took 18
th.
Alana Barron notched a 25
th-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.41m.
Lauren Tucker accounted for a 35
th-place finish in the 400m. She crossed the finish line in 1:12.37.
Brooks posted a 37
th-place finish in the weight throw (11.49m). Allie Parker took 39
th (11.21m) while
Naomi Taake was one spot back (10.92m). Soucek was 49
th.
In the mile,
Megan DeHart was 41
st with a time of 6:26.42. Rookie
Megan Johnston was not far behind, taking 43
rd in 6:33.03.
In the 200m, a trio of student-athletes competed. Abby Davis was 43
rd with a time of 29.28. Tucker was 51
st in a time of 31.71 while Eliana Cooper was just behind her, taking 52
nd in 31.80.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Fred Beile Classic.
