LINCOLN, Neb. – The York University track and field teams put forth a solid effort at the Prairie Wolf Invitational, which was hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan Friday.
The women were guided by
Cierra Dringman's fifth-place finish in the pole vault. The talented student-athlete recorded a mark of 3.02m. She also competed in the 400m. Dringman tallied an eighth-place finish in the event with a time of 1:04.29.
Abby Davis accounted for a time of 28.78 in the 200m, which was good enough for 15
th place. Dringman was not far behind her, taking 18
th with a time of 29.30.
In the 800m,
Samantha Bayer and
Megan Johnston were 17
th and 18
th, respectively. The rookies tallied times of 2:44.60 and 2:49.68.
Megan DeHart snagged 18
th place in the mile with a time of 6:32.18.
In the weight throw, Allie Parker garnered 18
th place with a mark of 11.70m,
Katy Soucek,
Abby Brooks and
Naomi Taake were 21
st, 22
nd and 23
rd, respectively. Soucek had an effort of 10.73m. Brooks posted a mark of 10.40m while Taake registered an effort of 9.93m.
Soucek earned a top-10 finish in the shot put. She notched an eighth-place finish with a mark of 11.14m. Brooks took 13
th after posting an effort of 9.71m.
The men's team was led by a pair of top-10 efforts in running events.
Trenton Orlando nabbed a fifth-place finish in the 400m after posting a time of 51.71. Rookie
Conner Neuhalfen took seventh in the 60m with a time of 7.42.
Zion Atwood's time of 24.96 in the 200m was good enough for 12
th place. Newcomer
Braden McNair was 15
th in the 800m. He clocked a time of 2:01.40.
Austin Oman and
Drew Lugafet were 18
th and 19
th, respectively, in the mile. Oman crossed the line in 4:55.62 while Lugafet took 19
th with a time of 5:16.68.
In the field events, Atwood snagged a top-20 mark twice. He accounted for a 13
th-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 3.45m. In the long jump, Atwood posted a mark of 5.44m, which allowed him to take 15
th place.
The Panthers return to action Jan. 30 when they compete at the Concordia Classic Multi beginning at 10 a.m.
