BALDWIN, Kan. – The York University women's wrestling team had a solid day at the Jimmy May Open Saturday.
Jill High recorded fourth place in the 131-lb. class. After receiving a bye, she won via technical fall over Sasha Williams (18-8). High recorded a pin fall over Audrey Darnell in 4:48. In the consolation bracket, York pinned Chase Kiel in 1:05 before facing off against Williams for the second time. She earned a hard-fought 15-14 win in the second match-up. High garnered a technical fall win over Aileya Sath 10-0.
Piper Kunnap garnered 3.5 points in the 160-lb. division. In the consolation bracket, Kunnap notched an injury default win before notching a 10-2 victory over Paris Kelleher in the ensuing round.
Jocelyn Prado secured 5.5 points in the 103-lb. class. In the consolation bracket, Prado secured a pin fall win over Isabele Campos in just 1:06. She picked up the next two wins via injury default.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Feb. 27 at the KCAC Tournament in Wichita, Kan.
