WICHITA, Kan. – The York University women's wrestling team took eighth place at the KCAC Championships on Friday as the team secured 35 points.

Grace Conner (110-lb.) and
Jill High (131-lb.) reach the third-place matches.
Conner lost via fall in her opener before recording back-to-back forfeit victories, securing a spot against Gracie Elliott in the third-place match. However, Elliott pulled out the win as Conner secured fourth place.
Jill High recorded a 48-second pin fall victory against Daizy Gomez in the opening match. After dropping the next contest, High was up 10-6 on Faith Vondy before securing the pin fall win at the 4:45 mark. That win allowed her to reach the third-place match against Madison Pena. However, High was unable to secure a spot on the podium but took fourth in the tournament.
Jocelyn Prado dropped her first match before besting Nataleigh Zapata with a 7-3 decision in her second contest. After dropping her ensuing match to Kylee Whalan, Prado took on Sofia Abramson in the 103-lb. division. She secured the seventh-place finish via medical forfeit.
Competing in the 117-lb. division,
Makayla Meyer dropped matches to Madison Kalamau and Ka'aulanl Hew-Len.
Piper Kunnap lost twice in the 160-lb. class to Justice Thomas and Amitria McNack.
Ryanne Dunn took part in the 138-lb. division, falling to Alleen Lester and Kaitlyn Thorn.
Kodi Taylor fell to Bailee Nelson and Payton Sholander.
Conner, High, and Prado all earned Honorable Mention while
Maddie Davis earned the team's KCAC Champion of Character award.
