Baseball: Wesleyan completes series sweep of Panthers

Bartlesville, Okla. - The Eagles finished off where they started on Saturday limiting a powerful Panther offense to just four hits in their final game of the series and winning 8-2. A game that was pushed back to a 6 p.m. start time due to heavy rains in the area saw a close game up until the final two innings of play.

York trailed 2-1 going into the eighth inning before a couple miscues defensively allowed four runs to come across unearned and give the Eagles some breathing room up 6-1. The Panthers answered back with one run in the bottom half of the inning but the Eagles capitalized once again, scoring twice in the ninth.

Josh Roman (SR/Newark, Calif) earned two base hits for the Panthers but it wasn't enough for his team to come back to York with a win. Billy Johnson (SR/Oakland, Calif) and Isaiah Bond (JR/Union City, Calif) were the only other Panthers to earn a hit in the game for York.

Billy Damon (JR/Reno, Nev) went 7 1/3 strong innings but picked up the loss as he allowed six runs, only two earned during his outing. The Panthers fall to 24-21 on the season and will face Bellevue in nonconference action Wednesday evening at Levitt Stadium.
