OMAHA - York and Bellevue squared off for the fifth time this season, and the Panthers were able to win the season series with the 1-0 win behind five pitchers and a defensive mistake by the Bruins.
Head Coach Brian Walth was looking to staff the game with several pitchers, to keep their arms ready in game situations, and they did an outstanding job allowing just two hits over the nine innings. Aaron Alvarez (JR/Madera, Calif) was credited with the win, while Brandon Facha (SR/Fremont, Calif) closed the game and earning the save.
Keenan Albracht (SR/Hart, Texas) scored the only run of the night as he hit a leadoff triple in the eight inning. The Bruins tried to throw over to third, but an errant throw by the second baseman sent Albracht advancing the final 90 feet for the score. The Panthers picked up seven hits, led by Luke Jackson (JR/Escondido, Calif )'s 3-for-4 outing.
York will host Ottawa University in KCAC action this weekend. The games are scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, but with the forecasted weather, those days/times may change.
