YORK - Ottawa's ace David Mead struck out 12 Panther batters enroute to a 9-3 win. Lindsley allowed six runs over five innings, but couldn't get enough run support to survive game one.
Game 1 Turning Point
With the bases loaded and one out DB Vidal (JR/Livermore, Calif) struggled to pick up a ball that could have resulted in a inning-ending double play, and instead the Braves score three runs in the inning. In the bottom half of the inning the Panthers stranded three runners, without getting a score.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Travis Turner (JR/Selah, Wash) (3-4, 2B, RBI), Isaiah Bond (SR/Union City, Calif) (2-4, 2 2B, RBI, R)
York fought back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning. Both teams scored one run in the seventh, before Billy Damon (SR/Reno, Nev) hit a one-out single to score Travis Turner from second base for the win in the bottom of the eighth.
Game 2 Turning Point
With the bases loaded in the seventh the Braves' catcher tried a pickoff play at first that saw his throw sail past the first baseman and allow all runners to advance. Brandon Facha (SR/Fremont, Calif) closed out the eight inning in relief, before a lead-off double by Travis Turner set up the bottom half of the inning perfectly. An intentional walk to Jake Sola (SO/Lincoln, Calif) allowed Billy Damon hit the 1-2 pitch into center field. Turner ran in from second base standing up, as the center fielder couldn't get a clean throw.
Game 2 Individual Leaders
Travis Turner (3-5, 2 2B, 2 R, RBI), Billy Damon (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R)
