Salina, KAN. - The Panthers extended their KCAC win streak to nine games on Friday as they swept the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan 2-1 and 3-1.
Game One
York scored two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead and they never relinquished it. Lawyer Braun (SR/Federal Way, Wash.) led off the inning with a solo shot over the left field fence. Jake Sola (JR/Lincoln, Calif.) then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Travis Turner (SR/Selah, Wash.). The Coyotes got one run back in the fifth, but Dallin Cornelius and Spencer Jones (SR/Three Rivers, Calif.) shut them down the rest of the way.
Cornelius went seven innings allowing just one run on six hits. He struck out seven batters as well. Spencer Jones struck out four batters in two innings as he picked up the save.
Ethan Lanz (SO/Littleton, Colo.) was the only York player to record multiple hits as he went 2-for-3.
Game Two
York scored one run in each of the first three innings as they finished the sweep with the 3-1 win. Evan Sagariballa (JR/Kerman, Calif.) allowed a run in the seventh inning as he picked up the complete game win. He struck out eight batters and allowed just four hits.
Lawyer Braun and Luke Jackson (SR/Escondido, Calif.) each went 2-for-3 in the finale.
York moves to 12-10 on the season and 10-4 in KCAC play. The Panthers will host Friends University in their third game of the three-game series on Tuesday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
