Chanute, KAN. - York College was able to get the final game of the three-game series with the Ottawa Braves to come home with another conference win under their belt. The Panthers lost a close matchup in the first game 3-1, before bouncing back and finding plenty of offense in their 14-5 win.
Game 1
Austin Eisenmenger pitched seven innings for the Panthers and allowed just two runs. Unfortunately, the Panthers offense wasn't able to help out much as they scattered just six hits over nine innings and only scored one run. Eisenmenger tried his best to help the cause as he scored the only run on a solo home run in the sixth inning. He picked up two hits on the day. Tre' Bradley was the only other Panther to have a multihit effort as he was 2-for-3 in the game. The other two hits belonged to Eric Chambers and Ethan Lanz. Marce Vasquez came in to pitch the eighth inning and allowed one run on two hits.
Game 2
York jumped out quickly scoring 12 runs before the Braves were able to get on the board. After not scoring a run in the first inning the Panthers exploded for four runs in the second. Tre' Bradley started things off with an RBI single that scored Lanz from third. Nick Garvey followed it up with a triple that scored Tony Riley and Bradley. After a pitching change Luke Juarez singled in Garvey. The third inning had a very similar feel as doubles by Eisenmenger and Garvey scored two runs and Bradley knocked in another.
York scored three more in the fourth as Eisenmenger doubled in Juarez and a single by Ethan Lanz knocked in Matt Nunes and Eisenmenger. Eisenmenger stayed hot with the bat hitting his second homerun of the day in the top of the fifth to put the Panthers up 12-0.
As the Panthers looked to be in control they picked up six hits in the bottom half of the inning and scored five runs. York answered back in the sixth thanks to a solo shot by Riley and then the Panthers were able to shut out the Braves in the final two innings.
Treyton Scully picked up the complete-game win going seven innings striking out six batters. The Panthers pounded out 17 hits in the game led by Luke Juarez's 4-for-5 effort. Eisenmenger and Riley each added three hits, while Bradley and Garvey added two apiece.
York will host Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Levitt Stadium for their first home game of the season. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
