YORK - York College used solid pitching to shut down the explosive Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon. After allowing a combined 36 runs in their first two games of the series the Panthers had their work cut out for them. Ian Heck was the answer as he threw seven innings and allowed just two runs in the final inning as he picked up the 6-3 win. 

Emmanuel Herrera started the game for the Panthers and allowed one run in two innings before Heck came in to take over. Heck struck out eight batters and allowed just one walk.

York's offense tied the game in the second and then took the lead with a three-run third inning and never looked back.

Jesus Licon hit a two-run single in the third that scored Eric Chambers and Alejandro Loera. Luke Juarez singled two batters later and scored Austin Eisgnmener.

The Panthers added another run in the fourth inning as Eric Chambers knocked in Tyler Loureiro.

Ethan Lanz singled in the seventh inning to score Eisenmenger for the sixth run of the game for York. With the Panthers lead 6-1 going into the ninth inning the Coyotes hit a two-run home run to close the gap but Heck was able to secure the win with a routine fly out to center field.

Chambers led the Panthers from the plate going 3-for-5. Mitchell Crawford was the only other Panther to record a multi-hit game going 2-for-4 from the plate.

York travels to Sterling, Kan. this weekend for a three-game series with the Warriors.
