Allen, Texas - York College opened the 2021-22 season with two hard-fought games down in Allen, Texas. It was the first time the Panthers were able to play outside this season. York fought hard in their first game against Baker University before falling 4-0. In the second game, the Panthers led Northwest (WA) 2-1 in the sixth before allowing two runs in the bottom of the inning to fall 3-2.

Game 1
York's offense was held to just two hits over seven innings as they were unable to score in the game. Sofia Perez and Haylea Thomas were the only Panthers to reach on a base hit. Carla Martinez reached base safely twice thanks to two walks. York hung in the game until the very end. The Panthers had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning before back-to-back strikeouts ended the comeback bid.

Kate Reyes pitched six innings for the Panthers and allowed just two earned runs.

Game 2
York led 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Northwest hit a 2-run home run to take the lead and then shut down the Panthers in the seventh to secure the win. The Panthers outhit the Eagles 8-4 but the Eagles capitalized on their hits. 

The Panthers scored their first run of the season after Breanna Underwood reached safely on a bunt single. She stole second and was able to advance to third on the overthrow. After back-to-back walks to Katherine Arceo and Haylea Thomas Underwood scores on a wild pitch.

In the sixth inning Katy Fazendin singled up the middle and Sofia Perez scored after a throwing error allowed her to advance two bases. 

Bailey Hardey pitched a complete game allowing just four hits and three runs.
