Box Score 2 OMAHA - After having their games canceled in Oklahoma the first weekend in February the Panthers headed east to face (24) Bellevue University. York looked like they were set to win game one as they led 10-6 going into the sixth inning, but the Bruins answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the game 11-10. Bellevue jumped out quickly in game two and never looked back as they dominated York 22-1.
Game 1
York jumped out early on the Bruins' pitching staff scoring two runs in the first, three in the second and third, and two in the fourth to lead 10-3. The bats settled over the final three innings though as the Panthers couldn't add another run.
Tony Riley was the offensive leader as he went 3-4 with a double and home run. He knocked in four RBIs on the game. Austin Eisenmenger was a perfect 2-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Jesus Licon, Peyton Pinedo, and Charlie Konstantino each added two hits as well.
Treyton Scully started the day on the mound for the Panthers and felt strong early. After giving up two runs in the first inning he settled down until the fourth when the Bruins' offense started seeing his pitches. Scully allowed five earned over three and two-thirds innings. Marce Vasquez picked up the loss giving up a game-tying grand slam and then the go-ahead run.
Game 2
Gage Davis didn't record an out in his Panthers' debut as he was chased off of the mound after facing seven batters. He allowed five runs on four hits and three walks. Two of the hits he allowed went over the fence. The offense had a tough time in game two as well with the Bruins' ace of Johnson. Johnson allowed just one hit, a solo shot for Ian Heck, over five innings. He struck out 10 of the 16 Panthers he faced.
Jose Martinez and Cesar Galvan were the only other two Panthers to get a hit in the game.
York travels to Missouri this coming weekend for a three-game series with Columbia College.
