Box Score 2 Winfield, KAN. - York College started off their conference season strong with a pair of wins on the road against Southwestern College. The Panthers won 4-1 in the first game and then followed that up with a solid 12-4 win in five innings. York played as the home team on the scoreboard as the game was originally scheduled for a home game, but due to dry field conditions, the game was moved to Winfield.
Game 1
The Moundbuilders struck first scoring off of an error in the first inning. That was all the Panthers were going to give up however as Bailey Hardey and the defense shut them down. A bases-loaded walk to Katy Fazendin scored Kennedie Anderson from third. In the third inning, Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Breanna Underwood. Sariah Ayala hit an RBI single in the fourth to score Kieyerah Twombly and Underwood finished off the scoring with a sac fly that scored Fazendin in the sixth.
Bailey Hardey pitched seven innings allowing just one run, unearned, and struck out two batters. He allowed six hits in the win.
Game 2
York's bats came alive in the second game as they compiled 15 hits and scored 12 runs. Sofia Perez ended the game in the fifth inning as she crushed a three-run home run over the left-field fence to put the Panthers up by eight runs for the final.
Kennedie Anderson led the Panthers as she went 3-for-4 from the plate and knocked in five runs. Breanna Underwood stayed hot at the plate as well with a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon. She also picked up her second stolen base of the day in the nightcap.
Kate Reyes helped herself out on the mound as well by hitting 2-for-3 with a single and double. She went the complete game allowing just one earned run and striking out five batters.
Sariah Ayala and Underwood each scored three runs in the game as well. Kat Arceo, Haylea Thomas, and Daisha DeLancey added hits as well.
The Panthers continue their road trip on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Central Christian. They continue KCAC play this coming weekend as they travel to Ottawa University.
