Box Score BELLEVUE - York College battled hard in their midweek game against Bellevue University on Wednesday afternoon before falling 9-3. After allowing three runs each in the first and third innings the Panthers climbed back with three runs of their own in the fifth to make the game a competitive 6-3 game. However, the Bruins had another three-run inning in the sixth before closing out the Panthers in the top of the seventh.
The Bruins struck first with an RBI double by Floro and followed that up with a home run by Maricela Egan. Egan struck again with a home run in the third before Lauren Jurek followed up with her own to make the game 6-0.
York climbed back in the ball game in the fifth as a bases-loaded walk to Sariah Ayala scored Hannah Splattstoesser from third. Katerine Arceo then hit a fielder's choice scoring Carla Martinez from third. The errant throw by the shortstop allowed Breanna Underwood to score as well as she round third and headed home.
The Bruins scored the final three runs of the game as Emily Rochford hit a bases-loaded double that scored three runs.
Katherine Arceo was the offensive leader for the Panthers as she went 2-for-4 from the plate and picked up one RBI.
The other two Panthers to pick up hits on the day were Breanna Underwood and Sofia Perez.
Bailey Hardey was credited with the loss as she pitched four innings and allowed six runs on six hits and three walks.
The Panthers head to Wichita, Kansas this weekend for the Friends University tournament.
