Box Score 2 YORK - York College earned a big KCAC split on Saturday afternoon in their first home games of the season. York used a big six inning to beat the University of St. Mary Spires 10-1 in the first game. York's bats were silenced in game two as they lost 8-0.
Game One
The Panthers scored nine of their ten runs off of home runs. Katy Fazendin started off the scoring for York as she hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Cheyenne Cooper. An inning later the Panthers saw their first home run off of the bat of Katherine Arceo. She hit a two-run shot scoring Sariah Ayala as well.
After allowing a run in the sixth inning to cut the Panthers' lead to 3-1 the flood gates opened. Fazendin singled and then back-to-back walks loaded the bases with just one out. That's when Haylea Thomas hit a rocket over the left-field fence for a grand slam. A two-out single and another walk brought pinch hitter Kennedie Anderson to the plate. That's when she decided to end the game with a 3-run home run of her own.
Kate Reyes picked up the win going six innings and allowing just one run, unearned. She picked up four strikeouts on the day as well.
York picked up eight hits, spread out between eight different Panthers. Cheyenne Cooper and Sariah Ayala each earned two walks.
Game Two
The Spires shook off the cobwebs from game one and were ready to battle in game two. They pounded out 14 hits and scored four runs in the second and three runs in the fifth. The top three Panthers in the batting order were the only ones to record a hit. Ayala hit a single and both Breanna Underwood and Arceo picked up two hits.
Bailey Hardey was credited with the loss as she allowed four earned over 3.1 innings pitched.
