Box Score 2 YORK - York College swept the visiting Bethel College Threshers on Saturday afternoon 6-3 and 11-2. York used a four-run fourth inning to take game one and then a 10-run third inning in game two to secure the win.
Game One
Kate Reyes pitched seven innings to get the win as she allowed just three runs over the seven innings. She struck out six batters to pick up her seventh win of the season. Breanna Underwood and Katy Fazendin picked up two hits each in the game and every starter claimed a hit except Kennedie Anderson. Underwood and Sariah Ayala each recorded a triple in the game. Kieyarah Twombly added a double for the Panthers as well.
Fazendin led the Panthers with two RBIs, while Underwood, Kat Arceo, and Emmah Morphew each had one as well.
Game Two
York's offense burst open in the third inning as they scored 10 runs to put the Threshers away. York had 14 at-bats in the third inning as they compiled the 10 runs on 10 hits. After a lead-off single by Underwood, Sariah Ayala doubled to left field to put two runners in scoring position. Kat Arceo then singled in Underwood. Haylea Thomas hit an RBI single and Erika McClung scored on an error by the left-fielder.
Kennedie Anderson singled and Cheyenne Cooper scored Thomas. Bailey Hardey was walked to load the bases for Katy Fazendin to single in Anderson. An infield single for Underwood advanced all runners 60-feet before Ayala scored two runners on a single to center. Arceo followed that up with another two-run single to finish out the scoring in the third inning.
Five Panthers recorded two hits in the five-inning game. The first four hitters in the lineup of Underwood, Ayala, Arceo, and Thomas. Cheyenne Cooper also added two hits. Arceo led the team with three RBIs.
Bailey Hardey picked up her fourth win on the season as she allowed just two runs through five innings.
The Panthers will travel to Friends University on Tuesday afternoon. York improves to 7-9 in the KCAC this season.
It was the annual Strike Out Cancer event for the Panthers that raised money for a YC student's mother, who has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer.
