Box Score 2 York got the split against conference opponent Bethel in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Panthers were not able to put their 7 hits together in game one losing 3-1. Game two was a much better outing for York as they were able to top the Threshers 8-4. York moves to 12-11 on the season and is currently ninth in the KCAC standings. The Panthers' next games will be conference matchups against Sterling and Kansas Wesleyan.
Game One Highlights
York scored a run to start off the game on a high note but gave up two quick runs in the bottom of the first inning. York's Haylea Thomas recorded the only RBI for the Panthers, scoring Paige Chapman from third. York put up eight hits led by Senior Katy Fazendin who went 2 for 3 with a triple in the right-center gap. Bailey Hardey threw a great game but took the loss for York throwing six innings, allowing eight hits, three runs, and striking out seven.
Game Two Highlights
The Panthers had a much better outing in game two recording twelve hits including two doubles and a home run. York scored two runs in the top of the second inning on a Kennedie Anderson home run to left center field. Bethel responded in the bottom of the third tying up the game but York bounced back in the top of the fourth and scored another two runs from a double to left center by Morgan Peterson. The Panthers were able to score another three runs in the last three innings with RBIs from Nevaeh Reed, Sofia Perez, and Kennedie Anderson. Kate Reyes threw a complete game getting the win. She allowed eight hits, and four runs, and struck out four.
