Box Score 2 York dropped both games to conference opponent Kansas Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at home. York was unable to get their bats going in both games combining for fourteen hits. Kate Reyes, Bailey Hardey, and Malia Alvarez all made appearances in the circle for the Panthers. Carla Martinez was behind the plate in game one and Haylea Thomas in game two. The Panthers have another home doubleheader Tuesday against the Bethany Swedes who are currently fourth in conference seedings.
Game One Recap
York scored a quick two runs on a Haylea Thomas two-run home run in the first inning but was only able to score one more run in the third inning on an RBI single from Sofia Perez scoring Paige Chapman. The Panthers held Kansas Wesleyan close until the fifth inning when they scored three runs and added on another four in the sixth. York had six hits, drew seven walks, and left ten runners on base. Kate Reyes got the loss allowing seven hits and five earned runs. Bailey Hardey threw two innings allowing six hits and three earned runs.
Game Two Recap
Much like game one York got off to an early start scoring two runs in the second inning on RBIs from Tricia Trice and Katy Fazendin. York held Kansas Wesleyan scoreless until the fourth inning when they tied the game up 2-2. Both teams scored no runs before entering the international tiebreaker when Kansas Wesleyan scored two runs in the eighth. The Panthers were able to get one run across in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to score another. Malia Alvarez got the loss throwing eight innings allowing six hits, three earned runs, and striking out eight.
