Softball ends season at KCAC Tournament

York was unable to capture a win in the KCAC conference tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend, Kansas losing game one to Ottawa University 7-3 and game two to Bethany College 10-2. York was able to put up seven hits against the regular season conference champions Ottawa University but was not able to stop the Braves' offense. York started hot against Bethany but was not able to plate any runs after the first inning. These losses ended the Panthers' 2022-2023 season. The Panthers finish their season with a record of 21-22 and close out the softball careers of seniors Kate Reyes, Katy Fazendin, and Erika McClung.

Game One vs. Ottawa
York fell early to the Braves in the second inning when they were able to piece together a few singles to score two runs. The Panthers were able to respond in the third inning with an RBI single down the left field line from Katherine Arceo and a 2 RBI single up the middle from Sofia Perez. Ottawa was able to push another run across the plate in the fourth to tie the game up and York was unable to respond. Ottawa would go on to score another two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Kate Reyes got the loss for the Panthers throwing 4.1 innings allowing five hits, four earned runs, and striking out four. Bailey Hardey threw for 1.2 innings allowing four hits and three earned runs.

Game Two vs. Bethany
The Panthers came out hot in game two scoring two runs in the first inning. Paige Chapman got things started with a single to left field followed by a single up the middle from Nevaeh Reed. Sofia Perez then hit a single to right field, scoring Chapman from second and moving Reed to third. Morgan Peterson would then hit a single to center field, scoring Reed from third. Bethany was able to bounce back quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. The Panthers' scoring stopped after the first but the Swedes kept their bats alive plating eight more runs led by a seven-run second inning. Malia Alvarez got the loss, throwing 1.2 innings allowing five hits, two earned runs, and striking out one. Bailey Hardey threw for 3.2 innings allowing five hits, one earned run, and striking out two.
