MARSHALL, Mo. – The York University women's wrestling team had a solid showing at the Missouri Valley Open this weekend.
In the 110-lb. division,
Rocio Chavez Fuentes earned 4.0 points. After receiving an opening-round bye, she picked up a win via pin in 2:15 against her foe from Carl Albert.
Jill High picked up nine points in the 131-lb. class. She had a bye before besting her opponent in just 76 seconds against the University of the Cumberlands. In the consolation bracket, she earned another fall in just 2:30. High garnered a third fall in the tournament, this time against her foe from Baker University in just 2:09.
Joy Ortiz accounted for 5.5 points in the 160-lb. division. She opened the tournament with an 11-0 technical fall win against Westminster University. She followed it up with a win in 5:05 against her foe from Quincy.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Doane Open.
