KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The York University women's wrestling team scored 38.5 points at the KCAC Tournament Saturday.
Jill High garnered the silver medal with a second-place showing in the 124-lb. class. She opened the day with a 10-1 victory over her foe from Saint Mary in the quarterfinal. High reached the championship match by recording a 4-0 decision over her opponent from Ottawa. For her effort, she accounted for 13.5 points.
Rocio Chavez Fuentes notched a third-place finish and picked up 13 points. After receiving a bye in the quarterfinal, she lost the semifinal match. In the consolation semifinals, Chavez-Fuentes posted a pin fall win in just 56 seconds, securing a spot in the third-place match. Chavez-Fuentes continued her strong day, posting a 15-4 technical fall win over her foe from the University of Jamestown.
Grace Conner picked up six points with her fifth-place finish at the 103-lb. division.
Vienna Martinez, competing in the 100-lb. class, garnered six points as she also took fifth place.
