KEARNEY, Neb. – The York University women's track and field team performed well at the Central Nebraska Challenge, which was moved up a day due to impending inclement weather.
In the hammer throw,
Candice Jones posted a 22
nd-place finish with a mark of 39.87m.
Elizabeth Zaiger was not far behind, taking 24
th with a mark of 39.62m. Allie Parker (36.01m) and
Delanie Namuth (35.79m) were 37
th and 38
th, respectively.
Alexis Gibbons took 43
rd (33.05m).
In the discus, rookie
Abby Schopper led the way, taking 33
rd (35.06m).
Ascha Utter (34.58m) and Jones (33.99m) were 36
th and 38
th, respectively. Gibbons placed 43
rd (29.44m) while Namuth was 45
th (28.78m).
Jones garnered a top-15 mark in the shot put, placing 14
th (11.81m) while Zaiger was 26
th (10.75m).
In the track events,
Cierra Dringman recorded a ninth-place effort in the 400m hurdles after posting a mark of 1:16.45.
Kamrie Dillan and Schopper earned top-20 finishes. Dillan took 17
th (1:03.74) while Schopper garnered 19
th place (1:05.83).
Jaden Hess and
Morgan Dinkler were 17
th and 18
th, respectively, in the 800m. Hess crossed the finish line in 2:46.09 while Dinkler was a spot behind her in 2:56.52.
Dillan posted a 13
th-place finish in the 200m (25.93) to lead York. Schopper (40
th – 28.02),
Alana Barron (45
th – 29.07), Dringman (48
th – 30.05) and
Lauren Tucker (49
th – 30.12) also competed in the event.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Apr. 4 when they compete at the Concordia Invitational.
