GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The York University men's golf team finished 11th at the KCAC Championship, which wrapped up Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers shot 165-over par, 1029, at the event, which was hosted at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.
Francisco Carvalho Gouveia led the way with a 32nd-place finish. He shot 22-over par, 238.Gouveia's best round of the tournament occurred during the final 18 holes of play when he carded a five-over par, 77.
Ashton Johnson tied for 45
th after posting a 33-over par, 249. Johnson shot scores of 85-80-84 on the par-72 course.
Tanner Simmerman,
Malachi Meador and
Aaron Bartak all moved up two spots on the final day of competition. Simmerman placed 50
th with a 54-over par, 270. He tallied scores of 90-89-91.
Meador was four strokes behind Simmerman with a 274. He garnered scores of 91-93-90 for the 54-hole event.
Bartak notched a 61-over par, 277, after registering scores of 95-93-89 for the championship.
No. 7 Friends University won the title at six-over par, 870, while Sterling (+17, 881) and No. 45 Kansas Wesleyan (+30, 894) rounded out the top three teams at the KCAC Championship.
