MITCHELL, S.D. – The York University men's golf team tied for eighth at the Dakota Wesleyan Spring Invite, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers posted scores of 328-326 for a 36-hole 654 on the par-71 Lakeview Golf Course.
Host Dakota Wesleyan won the tournament with an eight-over par, 576. Dickinson State was second (594) while Briar Cliff and Mount Marty (607) tied for third, respectively.
Francisco Carvalho and
Tanner Simmerman guided the team with a 21
st-place finish. Carvalho shot scores of 75-83 to finish 16-over par, 158. Simmerman opened with an 80 before firing a seven-over par, 78, for his two-round total.
Ashton Johnson took 38
th after posting a two-round 168.
Malachi Meador was two strokes behind Johnson and tied for 41
st. After opening with an 88, he fired a second-round 82 for a 170.
Aaron Bartak placed 45
th after finishing at 175. He notched scores of 89-86 during the tournament.
The Panthers return to action at the KCAC Championship Apr. 27-30.
