YORK, Neb. – The York University women's wrestling team picked up a hard-fought 26-21 victory over Midland Friday evening.
The Panthers are now 1-3 on the season.
Head coach
Jeff Albers' squad opened the match with a dominant performance from
Jocelyn Prado in the 103-lb. division. She bested her opponent via pin fall in a mere 1:14 for the win.
Ryanne Dunn posted a forfeit victory in the 138-lb. division, helping York close out the match with four victories in its last five matches.
Madison Davis put together a tremendous showing in the 145-lb. class. She needed just 4:24 before securing a 10-0 technical fall win over her opposition.
In the 180-lb. category, Angie Rose took down Hallie Stone in less than a minute, securing the pin fall win. Rose needed 40 seconds before notching the win.
Kodi Taylor garnered a forfeit win in the 207-lb. class.
Grace Conner competed in the 110-lb. division. She scored three points, but suffered a technical fall loss.
Makayla Meyer took part in the 117-lb. category. She dropped her match via pin fall.
In a high-scoring affair,
Jill High pushed her opponent in the 131-lb. class. However, she fell by an 18-10 decision.
Piper Kunnap dropped an 11-0 technical fall decision to her counterpart in the 160-lb. division.
The Panthers return to action tomorrow when they host the York Open at 9 a.m.
