YORK, Neb. – The York University women's wrestling team performed well at the York Open Saturday.

Jill High claim first place in the 131-lb. division. She opened with a pin fall in just 30 seconds against an opponent from Northern Oklahoma. In the quarterfinal, she wasted little time in a 59-second victory via pin. High notched a 10-0 technical fall win in the semifinal before registering a victory in 4:07 for the crown over a foe from Iowa Lakes.
Angelean Rose garnered fourth place and tallied 10 points. In the consolation bracket, she notched a 2-1 decision over a foe from GVWC. She then bested her teammate,
Kodi Taylor, with a pin fall in 2:08. However, she was unable to claim the win in the third-place match.
Taylor secured fifth place in the 180-lb. class. She registered a hard-fought 8-5 win via decision over Lydian Rigby of Fort Hays Tech for the spot in the top five.
Jocelyn Prado picked up 4.5 points in the 103-lb. division. She bested Kyra Gonzalez via pin fall in just 42 seconds in the consolation bracket. Prado notched a 10-0 technical fall victory over a foe from Northern Oklahoma.
The Panthers return to action Friday, Jan. 30, when they compete at the Spire Open beginning at 9 a.m.
