KEARNEY, Neb. – The York University men's and women's track and field teams recorded a tremendous meet Sunday at the Central Nebraska Challenge against outstanding competition.
Head coach
Josh Nething's team had several student-athletes compete in the field and running events. On the men's side of things
Zion Atwood was 33
rd in the discus with a mark of 27.52m. In the running events, Atwood took 17
th after finishing in 18.69 in the 100m hurdles.
Conner Neuhalfen snagged a 24
th-place finish in the 100m after recording a time of 11.16.
Trenton Orlando posted a time oof 51.80 in the 400m, which was good enough for 26
th. Atwood was 28
th after notching a time of 53.21.
On the women's side several athletes had stellar performances.
The javelin featured
Morgan Dinkler's 11
th-place effort of 33.07m.
Alana Barron earned an 18
th-place finish (29.03m) while Taake (27.13m) and Maya Colle (24.11m) were 23
rd and 25
th, respectively.
In the hammer throw, Allie Parker recorded a 30
th-place finish with a mark of 40.51m.
Katy Soucek was 37
th (36.88m) while
Megan Burdge was one spot behind her (35.75m).
Naomi Taake snagged 42
nd place (32.06m).
The discus saw Soucek earn a 12
th-place finish with a mark of 41.55m. Eliana Cooper took 24
th in the long jump with an effort of 4.31m.
Soucek had a busy meet as she competed in the shot put. In the final event of the meet, Soucek posted a mark of 10.69m, which was good enough for 24
th place.
In the running events,
Cierra Dringman snagged a ninth-place finish in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:09.73. She was 19
th after crossing the line in 18.40 in the 100m hurdles. The 400m saw Abby Davis take 28
th with a time of 1:06.65.
The Panthers'
Megan DeHart garnered 32
nd place in a time of 6:04.34 in the 1,500m while teammate
Lauren Tucker was just behind her for 33
rd, crossing in 6:06.52.
Megan Johnston was not far behind Tucker, taking 36
th after posting a time of 6:16.20.
The Panthers return to action Apr. 2-3 at the Concordia Invitational.
