Track & Field: Soucek leads Panthers with discus title

WICHITA, Kan. – The York University women's track and field team finished 10th at the KCAC Track & Field Outdoor Championships, which wrapped up Friday evening. 
 
The Panthers tallied 11 points at the meet. St. Mary claimed the title while Friends and Evangel were second and third, respectively. 
 
York was led by Katy Soucek's discus title. The standout won the event with a throw of 44.72m, which occurred on the first effort of the day. 
 
Allie Parker led four Panthers in the hammer throw. Parker finished eighth with an effort of 39.94m while Megan Burdge was just one spot behind her in ninth with a mark of 38.22m. Soucek took 15th (36.60m) while Naomi Taake registered a top-20 finish with a mark of 33.57m (19th place).
 
Morgan Dinkler and Alana Barron secured top-10 finishes in the javelin. Dinkler was ninth after an effort of 27.83m while Barron was one spot back in 10th after throwing 27.79m. Taake tallied a 15th-place finish at 26.77m while Maya Colle was 18th (23.87m).  
 
Cierra Dringman secured a 10th-place finish in the pole vault. She cleared 2.78m for the outstanding finish. Soucek registered a 12th-place effort in the shot put with a mark of 10.78m. Eliana Cooper posted a 22nd-place finish in a long jump after posting an effort of 4.18m. 
 
In the running events, Abby Davis accounted for an 11th-place finish in the 400m. She crossed the finish line in 1:02.54. In the 1,500m, Megan Dehart led a trio of Panthers. She finished 17th after crossing the line in 5:49.30. Lauren Tucker was two spots behind her after posting a mark of 6:08.00. Megan Johnston earned a 20th-place finish with a time of 6:09.13. 
 
In the 200m, Davis garnered a 21st-place finish with a time of 28:04. 
 
Dringman had a solid performance in the 400m hurdles, clocking a time of 1:10.98, which was good enough for 10th place. 
 
The 800m featured Dehart and Johnston. The duo placed 23rd and 24th, respectively. Dehart crossed the line in 2:50.72 while Johnston was 24th in 2:56.21.  

The York University men's track and field team finished 12th at the KCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which wrapped up Friday evening. 
 
The squad tallied 6.50 points at the championship. Friends won the championship while St. Mary and Evangel were the top three teams. 
 
The Panthers were led by Zion Atwood's performance in the pole vault. The standout garnered a fifth-place finish after clearing 3.90m. The finish allowed York to pick up 3.5 points. 
 
In the running events, Conner Neuhalfen turned in an impressive performance in the 100m. The freshman registered a seventh-place finish in a time of 10.68, which was good enough for two points. The standout earned a 12th-place finish in the 200m, clocking a time of 22.24. 
 
Drew Lugafet notched a 14th-place finish in the 10,000m. He crossed the finish line in 36:29.91. The 1,500m showcased a pair of Panthers that recorded top-20 efforts. Braden McNair earned a 15th-place finish (4:16.38) while Austin Oman was not far behind him, snagging 19th with a time of 4:23.36. 
 
Atwood recorded a 16th-place finish in the 400m hurdles after securing a time of 59.91. 
 
Trenton Orlando accounted for a 21st-place finish in the 400m after crossing the line in 51.96. 
 
The 800m saw McNair take 29th place after crossing the line in 2:08.14. Oman wasn't far behind, crossing in 34th place in a time of 2:14.60. 
 
The quartet of Orlando, Neuhalfen, McNair and Atwood wrapped up the two-day event with an eighth-place finish in the 4x400m relay. The squad posted a time of 3:32.96, which was good enough for a point.
