Track & Field: Katy Soucek Places 13th At NAIA National Championship

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – York University freshman phenom Katy Soucek finished 13th in the discus at the NAIA National Championship Friday.
 
The standout from Silverlake, Neb., shattered the school record, claiming the NCCAA National Championship two weeks ago with a mark of 46.07m. 
 
Against 19 other student-athletes at the NAIA National Championship Friday afternoon, Soucek entered the event with the 11th-best effort and was one of just four freshmen to reach the national final.
 
After a foul on her first attempt, she registered a distance of 42.16m (138'4") during her second attempt. Soucek notched a mark of 41.25m (135'4") on her third and final attempt of the meet.

Sydney Duncan of IU Kokomo (Ind.) won the event with a throw of 47.62m (156'2").
