Colis and Dolores Campbell are a part of York's rich history. They came from the mission field in Japan to continue their love of spreading the Word of God, this time with young men and women at York College. God's work at York would take them 17 years to complete. Colis signed on to teach physical education and Bible. In addition to teaching he was the only coach at that time, and his sport was basketball. Later he would find himself coaching track, soccer, and tennis as the need arose. The title of Athletic Director was added to his resume as he had been fulfilling that function from the beginning.

Dolores worked with the Girls Mission Group, Pep Club, Cheerleaders, and social clubs and several other groups as needed. Dolores's talents and willingness to serve moved her up the ladder and she eventually became the Dean of Women.

However they could, Colis and Dolores were in agreement to love students.

Coach Campbell inherited a basketball program that was struggling and for his first season the team recorded more losses than wins. He quickly turned the program around and winning seasons followed. By 1965 his record was 22-5 with a conference championship in hand. Although winning was important and he hated to lose, shaping the lives of young men was his mission. His desire was for all of his athletes to leave York College stronger spiritually than when they arrived. Often he would spend his own money, of which there was little, to help his athletes succeed.

Their service was a testament to the One they served and many lives were changed as they guided all to the God who transforms.

Because of extraordinary sacrifice, leadership and service, on this day, October 8, 2011, Colis and Dolores Campbell are inducted into the York College Sports Hall of Fame.
