York University (NE)

Shaylee Carlock was a dominant part of Head Coach Justin Carver’s track and field program for four years. She was an elite thrower who set multiple records during her time at York University.

Shaylee’s strong suit was the shot put where she was a four-time NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) All-American. 

During her career she won three NCCAA national titles in the shot put and currently holds the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Shot Put record.

Shaylee was a four-time NAIA National Qualifier and became the first YU track and field athlete to earn NAIA All-American honors. She achieved the honor twice in 2013, earning the honor at the NAIA Indoor National Championships and the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.

Because of her outstanding athletic achievements during her years with York University, on this day, October 21, 2023, Shaylee (Carlock) Fortner ’13 is inducted into the York University Athletic Hall of Fame.
